Sirsi: A tragic incident occurred in Banavasi, Sirsi taluk, where a boy died after being struck by lightning. The incident took place on Saturday evening around 4 PM.

The deceased has been identified as Sajid Ashfaque Ali (16), a tenth-grade student of Eden Way High School.

According to reports, Sajid was struck by lightning while playing with friends on the Jayanthi High School grounds in Banavasi. Despite being rushed to the hospital immediately after the incident, he succumbed to his injuries.

It had been raining in the area since the afternoon, and the accident occurred within the Banavasi police station limits. The body has been taken to the government hospital for a post-mortem examination.
