Udupi: Revenue Minister R Ashoka said the administration should reach out and respond to the grievances of the common man.
While inaugurating ‘Jilladhikarigala Nade Halliya Kade’ at Kokkarne, he said the programme is being held in 247 places across the state. The government should go to the doorsteps of people as in the past to find solutions to their problems.
Ashoka assured that henceforth applicants need not worry as the programme will ensure early disposal of their applications.
He said that officials had been directed to clear files and redress problems within 10 days.
The minister said that as many as 27,462 applicants had applied for the Covid-19 deaths compensation. Among them, 13,698 are BPL cardholders.
In Udupi, 448 applications were received and 212 are from BPL cardholders. An amount of Rs 200 crore was released for the purpose, he added.
Minister for Energy and Kannada and Culture Sunil Kumar said development works are extensively taken up across the state.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat appealed to the revenue minister to set up an additional assistant commissioner and also sub registrar’s offices in rural and urban areas to reduce pending applications.
