Karwar: As part of Navy Week, the general public will be given an opportunity to visit the Sea Bird naval base to see the warships on December 18 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, stated a press release.

Those interested in visiting the naval base have to compulsarily get valid identity card with them. No bags, except small purses, will be allowed in the naval base.

Officers of the naval base have asked school and college students and other members of the public to view the naval base in large numbers and know more about the Indian Navy and warships.

The Seabird naval base in Karwar found a place on the country’s defence map in 2004.

Today, it has emerged as the navy’s third major base after Mumbai and Visakhapatnam. A unique feature of the project was its ship lift and ship transfer system.
