Changes introduced to streamline traffic in Karwar

Karwar: In order to ensure smooth movement of traffic in Karwar, the district administration has come forward to convert some roads to one-way traffic lanes and has made some proper parking arrangement.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting presided over by the deputy commissioner recently. The deputy commissioner also warned that traffic norm violators would not be spared and would be penalised.

The roads where one-way traffic has been introduced are Geetanjali Circle to Subhashchandra Circle (for vehicles coming from Habbuwada), Subhashchandra Circle to Shivaji Chowk-Hoovina Chowk-Geetanjali Circle (for vehicles moving towards Habbuwada).

Parking for 2-wheelers:

Parking of two-wheelers from Geetanjali Circle to Savita Circle has been prohibited. Parking on one side has to be done from Savitha Circle to Subhash Circle Ganapathi Temple and on the road behind Savitha hotel (on alternate days).

Vehicles on Radhakrishna temple Road, Kaikini Road, Coutinho Road, Maruthi Galli, Brahman Galli have to be parked on one side on alternate days. This apart, vehicles have to be parked on the left side from Subhash Circle to Kodibeer arch, on the right side from KSRTC bus stand to Kodibeer arch and from Subhash Circle to Shivaji Chowk (Green Street) on one side on alternate days.

Vehicles on one side on alternate days have to be parked from Shivaji Chowk to Hoovina Chowk (Court Road), on two sides from Shivaji Chowk to Ambedkar Circle, on one side on Teli Ramji Road, on two sides from Pikale Road Appolo Medicals to Kodibaag Road and on left side from Mitra Samaj MG Road to old Court compound.

Vehicles can be parked on two sides from Kodibaag Road (Hoovina Chowk) to Pikale Road turn and on the left side from Karwar-Kodibaag Road (Joglekar Photo Studio) to Kencha Road.

Additional Superintendent of Police Gopal Byakod, City Municipal Council Commissioner Yogeshwar, District Urban Development Cell 
Director Viraktamath, Police Inspector Shivakumar, Vinayak Billava, Regional Transport Commissioner Ramakrishna Rai, Motor Vehicle Inspector Ravi Bisaralli and others were present at the meeting.
