Karwar: Angered by the state government’s decision of direct recruitment of 'D' group employees at hostels run by government and its organizations, hundreds of contract ‘D’ group employees of Uttara Kannada district staged a protest under the banner of CITU in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city on 21st June, Wednesday.

“We have been working on contract basis at government hostels and other departments from many years as cooks, assistant cooks, cleaning staff and security personnel. If the state government recruits new employees for 'D' group, we all will lose our jobs and our families will not be getting any financial assistance,” the protesters urged.
