Karwar city readies to celebrate Independence Day in grand fashion

Karwar: Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul directed all district-level officers to make preparations for celebrating the 72nd Independence Day on August 15 in a grand manner.

Presiding over a preliminary meeting of the National Festivals Celebration Committee conducted at the deputy commissioner’s office on Friday, Nakul said that the national flag will be hoisted at the deputy commissioner’s house at 7:15 am, at the deputy commissioner’s office at 7:30 am and at various offices at 9:00 am on that day.

Cultural programmes:

District In-charge minister will hoist the flag at the police parade ground. Later, march past and cultural programmes by students will be held.

Nakul said that the city must be maintained clean on occasion of Independence Day. Festive mood must be created in the city.

All government offices and various circles must be decorated with lights. Offices must also be cleaned and this will be inspected by a surprise visit to the office.

Use of plastic flags has been completely banned this time also. 

Superintendent of Police Vinayak Patil, Additional Deputy Commissioner Suresh Itnal and others were present.
