An accidental fire broke out due to cylinder explosion in an apartment in Devarachikkanahalli on Tuesday evening claiming the lives of at least two persons, while few others are suspected to be trapped inside the building.
Police said the Fire, emergency department officials and the police are trying to bring the fire under control and rescue those trapped.

Ace fighter pilot Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari has been appointed as the next chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF) succeeding Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria who retires from service on September 30.
Chaudhari is presently the Vice Chief of Air Staff and has been an ace MiG-29 pilot expert in major MiG-29 fighter aircraft.
He was the chief of the Western Air Command from August 1, 2020.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 2,988.21 kg heroin worth Rs 15,000 crore from two containers at the Mundra port in Gujarat's Kutch district and subsequently arrested a couple that runs an import firm from Chennai, officials said on Tuesday.
The price of one kg of heroin is around Rs 5 crore in the international market.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its order on a petition filed by the sister of murdered journalist-turned-activist Gauri Lankesh, Kavitha Lankesh, against the dropping of organised crime charges against an accused in the case.

Karnataka logged 818 new COVID-19 cases and 21 deaths on Tuesday, taking the total number of infections to 29,69,361 and the toll to 37,648.
The day also saw 1,414 discharges, taking the total number of recoveries in the state so far to 29,17,944.

A new fissure emerged in the erupting volcano on Spain's Canary Islands, belching out more lava and forcing another 500 people to flee, officials said Tuesday.
