Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking to quash the FIR registered against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation on the charges of corruption.

A 48-year-old man was stabbed to death for preventing a man from ‘teasing’ a woman at Chandavar village in Honnavar taluk on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Abbu Talib Shaik, a resident of the village. According to police, Abbu had a fight with his neighbour Abdul Kotebagilu after Abdul was found misbehaving with a woman.

At least 26 people died and several were missing after an overcrowded speedboat collided with a sand-laden bulk carrier and sank on Bangladesh's giant Padma River on Monday, police said.
