As many as 531 fishermen, stranded in the choppy waters off the Kerala and the Lakshadweep coasts due to Cyclone Ockhi, have been rescued, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said today.
So far 393 people from Kerala have been rescued, Vijayan said, as the state government announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of those who died in the storm.

A newly married woman allegedly committed suicide over dowry harassment by her mother-in-law, at HSR layout in the city.
Police said she left behind a suicide note, saying her mother-in-law had been harassing her over dowry. Vanitha (28), daughter of a corporator in Mysuru, was found hanging from the ceiling of her room last night.
