In a bizarre road accident that happened on NH-66 near Hiregutti check post in the taluk, a bike rider after coming underneath a lorry, escaped with multiple injuries after his bike skidded just in front of the moving vehicle. But luckily, the major tragedy was averted due to the immediate attention of lorry driver. The incident happened on 20th November, Monday morning.

The state government will consider demands for new taluks in addition to the 50 already announced, Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa informed the Legislative Assembly on Monday.
Replying to a question by T Ramamurthy (Cong), Thimmappa said the government plans to complete the process of creating 50 new taluks, which had been already announced, by January next year.
