    2002 Godhra train carnage case: Gujarat HC commutes death sentence of 11 convicts into life imprisonment

    The Gujarat High Court on Monday commuted the death sentence to 11 convicts, in connection with the 2002 Godhra train burning case, into life imprisonment. On March 1, 2011, the special SIT (Special Investigation Team) had convicted 31 people under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections related to murder, attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy. It had acquitted 63.
