Sharath (28), who was attacked by unknown men with lethal weapons on the night of Tuesday at B.C. Road, was declared dead at a private hospital here on Friday.
Sharath, owner of Udaya Laundry at B.C. Road, was preparing to go home after finishing the day’s work on Tuesday when he was attacked with sharp weapons.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said strict action would be taken against anti-social elements who were trying to disrupt peace in Dakshina Kannada district and violators of law would not go unpunished. At least 25 cows have died at a government shelter in Mathana village here due to “incessant rains and non-availability of fodder”. Continuous rains led to water-logging in the shelter. A number of cows got stuck in the swampy land and died. A few others starved to death and many have fallen sick, Kiran Bala, the village head, said.

Police have deployed tight security in Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district in the wake of reports that Hindu outfits were planning a protest against the murder attempt on an RSS activist in Bantwal town on July 4.

The Supreme Court today said that all the issues arising out of Aadhaar should be finally decided by its constitution bench.
A three-judge bench, headed by Justice J Chelameswar, asked the parties to urge the Chief Justice to set up a constitution bench to decide the issues relating to Aadhaar.
