Karwar: A male deer fell prey to the bullet triggered by a hunter, in Gopashitta forest range in Karwar taluk.

Though the forest staff members rushed to the spot as soon as they heard the loud sound of the bullet, the accused went absconding and the deer had fallen dead.

Doctors performed postmortem and confirmed that the deer had died of bullet injury.

The body was buried in the presence of forest officials.
