Derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammed: Case registered

Udupi: A case was registered against a man for posting derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammed on social media.

On December 8, Shashikant Poojary, the accused, had responded with a derogatory remarks to a post uploaded by Nasir Muhammed on the Facebook.

Complainant Shabbir Abdul Khader alleged that the remarks were inciting communal hate. He had urged the police to take appropriate action against Poojary for attempting to disturb communal harmony in Shirva. “Poojary has hurt the religious sentiments of Muslim community,” the complaint stated. 

A case was registered under IT Act 2008 66(D) and IPC Section 505 (2) against Poojary in Shirva police station.
