MANGALURU: Former deputy chief minister G Parameshwara said that the BJP government should be dissolved and a comprehensive inquiry must be launched into the 40% commission allegation against it.
The former KPCC president was speaking at a protest organised by the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee, demanding the arrest of former minister K S Eshwarappa, in connection with the suicide of Belagavi-based contractor Santosh K Patil, here on Saturday.
“Though Santosh Patil was visiting Eshwarappa’s house and office, the BJP leader says he does not know him. Did Santosh take up work without Eshwarappa’s advice? Finally, Eshwarappa has submitted his resignation, confessing to the mistake he committed. A high court judge should conduct a probe on the corruption allegation against Eshwarappa,” Parameshwara said.
He pointed out that it was a procedure to arrest an accused who was named as the first accused in a case. “Why did the police not arrest Eshwarappa, though he has been named as the A1 accused in the Santosh suicide case. The level of corruption in the state has touched its historic peak. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made 10% commission allegation against Siddaramaiah government. Now contractors have sent a letter alleging 40% commission against the BJP government. However, no inquiry has been ordered, and this proves that the Prime Minister has been protecting the corrupt government in Karnataka,” he said.
Parameshwara sought Rs 1 crore ex gratia for the family of Santosh Patil.
