Bhatkal: 13 Goats were killed by a pack of stray dogs which were tied by rope at Siddique Street under Bhatkal TMC limit on Saturday mid night.
According to sources, the goats which were brought for Eid festival starting from 12 September in Bhatkal were tied using the rope when 20-25 stray dogs attacked those goats.
It is said that Fauzan Hawwa owner of the goats was sleeping nearby. By the time the noise caused by ensuing attack woke him up, 13 goats were already killed and eaten by the dogs while remaining 2 were under attack. He was helpless and couldn't save them.
Hundreds of goats are brought for sale during the Eid festival every year.
Fauzan said that he incurred loss of more than Rs 1 lakhs. He said that before he could sell these goats, the dogs attacked them.
Looking at the incident, the people in Bhatkal are tense. Locals demanded stern steps to overcome these stray dogs else they can attack humans as well.
