Karwar: The Uttara Kannada district administration has issued a draft notification for the proposed ward delimitation of Bhatkal as part of the process to upgrade the Bhatkal Town Municipal Council (TMC) into a City Municipal Council (CMC), officials said.
The draft notification, prepared on the basis of the 2011 Census, proposes the division of the municipal area into 31 wards.
According to the notification, the proposed wards include: Venkatapur–Kargedde, Huralisal, Hindu Colony, Nawayat Colony, Salmanabad, Nagappa Naik Road, Raghunath Road, V.V. Road, Chauthani, Ghausia Street, Jamia Street, Siddiq Street–Dongarpalli, Car Street, V.T. Road, Kidwai and Sultan Street, Magdoom Colony-1, Magdoom Colony-2, Bundar Road, Talgeri, Jalikodi, Shedkuli, Azad Nagar, Moosa Nagar, Taggargod, Madina Colony, Jamiabad–Janata Colony, Honnegadde, Hirtar–Herikeri, Tenginagundi, Heble–Gandhinagar and Nerlesar.
Officials said members of the public who may be affected by the proposed delimitation can submit their objections, suggestions or comments in writing, along with supporting documents, to the Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada in Karwar on or before March 13.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said objections and suggestions received within the stipulated period will be examined by the district administration before a final decision is taken. Submissions received after March 14 will not be considered, the statement added.
