Siddapur: The old banyan tree, which was located near Siddapur main road was uprooted on 13th July, Thursday night. However, two shops, a car, a bike and a cycle were damaged. A pole with electric transformer was also damaged, But there was no loss of life, said Revenue Department sources

Authorities concerned were engaged in clearing the remains of the tree on Friday.

On Thursday night, the intensity of rain increased and continued till Friday. Around 33.8 mm rain was received by Siddapur in 24 hours peroid till Friday morning. Until now, it has received 1068 mm rain as against 1144.8 mm last year, said tahsildar office.
