Karwar: A resident of Hiregutti village in Kumta taluk Shantaram Prabhu submitted a complaint to Depty Superintendent of Police G T Naik demanding for the arrest of two police officials who assaulted him and his family members for complaining against them for taking a bribe.

In his written complaint, Prabhu charged that police officials Mohan Gowda and Nitya have been harassing him and his family for the last two months for complaining about them for collecting bribe at a toll gate, in-spite of showing them all the required documents.

When Prabhu complained about the officials on the toll-free number 100, the receiver of the complaint called the ‘accused’ officials and along with an ambulance driver went to Prabhu’s house and assaulted him, his father and his wife.

Prabhu asked the DySP to either arrest the two, as they have threatened their lives, or allow them to commit suicide.

The victim's family said a senior police officer has assured that he will take necessary steps in this regard.
