Karwar: In a gruesome road accident, an elderly woman lost her life after a speeding truck hit their two-wheeler while she was heading to a wedding function along with her husband here at Habbuwada region in the taluk on Thursday.

The deceased, Sunita Rani, 63, was crushed underneath the truck after the collision, which as a result she succumbed on the spot. Her husband escaped with minor injuries.

Movement of traffic remained disrupted for a while soon after the accident. A case has been registered in this regard and cops have arrested Manjunath Shetty.

Further investigation underway.
