Sirsi: Scientist Harish Hande said Celco is ready to take lead in construction of an Energy University in rural areas of Uttara Kannada district if Karnataka government provides 2.5 acres of land.
Speaking to media persons during the ‘Adavi-Aduge Prathyakshike’ programme at Kanmane here on Saturday, he said majority of the energy universities are in either Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru and other metro cities. However, the energy crises is in rural areas. Setting up of energy universities in rural areas will help in addressing the power crises in rural India.
The University can have an intake capacity of 200 students per year, and students from within State, country, Africa, South America and other countries can come here learn and find solution for local problems.
With the help of research these students take up, we can find permanent solution for the darkness in India and also inspire students to work towards finding solutions to problems faced at grass-root level.
