
Karwar: Women play a significant role in shaping lives as mothers, sisters, and wives while also excelling in various professional fields, including teaching, engineering, policing, railways, and aviation. Despite societal constraints, they continue to achieve remarkable success at state, national, and international levels, said Karwar-Ankola MLA and Karnataka State Marketing Consultant and Agencies President, Satish Sail.
Speaking at the International Women’s Day celebration organized by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat, and the Department of Women and Child Development at Indira Kala Bhavan, Murdeshwar Math, Sail emphasized the importance of women's rights, equality, and empowerment. He highlighted government initiatives supporting pregnant women and children, including the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, under which Rs. 1.25 lakh is deposited in the bank for every girl child.
The event featured a nutrition exhibition, the felicitation of Anganwadi worker Tara Gopal Naik for her exemplary service, a traditional baby shower for pregnant women, and an Annaprashan ceremony for infants. Newlywed couples were honored, and Sukanya Samriddhi passbooks were distributed. Additionally, children aged three to six years received Take-Home Ration (THR) packets.
The celebration saw the participation of Women and Child Development Department Deputy Director Virupaksha Gowda Patil, District Health and Family Welfare Department Survey Officer Dr. Archana Naik, Child Development Project Officer Sonal S. Igal, and several members of the public.
