KOZHIKODE: Father of 18-year-old girl, Keerthana, from Vayalilkuni house, Moothedath Bazar, Korambayil Road, Kozhikode, who was declared brain dead following an intra-cranial bleed (Thalachorile Rakthasravam) have set another example for donating organs.
Her organs - eyes, liver and kidney were donated to various people. Miss Keerthana, daughter of Anil Kumar, met with a bus accident on 27th November and was confirmed brain dead at Baby Memorial Hospital by late night.
The kidneys of the deceased were donated to two patients at Aster MIMS. The kidneys are donated to a 46-year-old man from Wayanad and 40-year-old man from Kannur district.
Keerthana was a BSc Maths student at MES College, Nadakkavu. Keerthana’s eyes were donated to Medical College, liver to PVS Hospital Ernakulam,
The doctors participated in the kidney transplant surgery at Aster MIMS are Urologists Dr Krishna Mohan R, Dr Abhay Anand and Dr Khurshid Ahamed, along with Cardio Vascular Surgeon Dr Anil Jose, Anesthetists Dr Preetha Chandran, Dr Sreelatha Varma and Nephrologists Dr Sajith Narayanan, Dr Ismail NA, Dr Feroz Aziz and Dr Benil Hafeeq.
The organs were procured from the patient from Baby Memorial Hospital by Urologist Dr Krishna Mohan R of Aster MIMS.
