Field ready for Jan & Bros BPL cricket tournament starting December 29 in Dubai

Dubai: Excitement is building as the Jan & Bros Bhatkal Premier League (BPL) cricket tournament, a much-anticipated event for the Bhatkal community and its surrounding areas residing in Dubai and across the UAE, is set to kick off on December 29. The field is ready, and preparations are in full swing. The tournament will feature eight competitive teams, with player selection through a bidding process recently completed.

In a thrilling bidding session, Abdul Muqeet of Prince Manki team, hailing from the nearby village of Manki, emerged as the most expensive player. After fierce competition, he was secured by Unique Strikers for a record 110 points. Other notable bids included:

  • Ismail Minhaj from Anfa, Bhatkal, acquired by DVS United for 101 points.
  • Mohammad Waseem of Azad team, bought by Luxury Zone Challengers for 91 points.
  • Asadullah’s Maalik Damda and Mohammad Rasikh, secured by Fab 11 Warriors and Haneef Chargers for 85 and 82 points, respectively.

Each of the eight teams selected 13 players through the bidding process, while an icon player and a guest player were added to complete a 15-member squad for each team. A total of 144 entries were received for the selection process.

The bidding session began with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Syed Mohammed Wali. Announcements were handled by Imran Khatib, Syed Ali Sufyan SM, Afnan Saddibapa, and Tabrez Gawai, who expertly managed the proceedings. The BPL Commissioner, Taha Muallim, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees and participants.

Prominent figures present at the event included BPL Patron Mohammed Ghaus Khalifa, Chairman Yasir Kashimji, BMJD General Secretary Jilani Mohtisham, former BPL Chairman Abu Mohammed Mukhtasar, Secretary General of the Canara Muslim Khaleej Council Amin Saifullah, and businessman Maaz SM. They commended the BPL committee for organizing such an exciting tournament, which unites the Bhatkal community across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, and other Emirates.

The tournament will feature eight teams, divided into two groups:

  • Group A: Luxury Zone Challengers, Abu Dhabi Riders, DVS United, Fab 11 Warriors
  • Group B: Haneef Chargers, Unique Strikers, Rising Stars, NCD Smashers

The opening match is scheduled for December 29 at 2:00 PM, featuring Luxury Zone Challengers vs. Abu Dhabi Riders.
