Bengaluru: The EC received 2,28,917 Form-7 applications in Karnataka between June 16 and October 22, according to official data, amid allegations of bulk submissions during the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls.
A total of 58,475 Form-7 applications had been received by September 23, data shared by the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office showed.
All Form-7 applications received up to September 23 have been cleared on priority, the CEO’s office said in a statement.
The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 27.
Form-7 is used to file objections to the inclusion of a name in the electoral roll or seek the deletion of a name from the existing roll.
The ruling Congress in Karnataka, led by Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, has alleged that the opposition BJP was misusing Form-7 to file bulk objections.
Shivakumar has also raised the issue with the CEO. The BJP has rejected the allegations.
According to data shared by the CEO’s office, Bengaluru Urban received the highest number of Form-7 applications at 24,268, followed by BBMP South with 19,662 and BBMP North with 18,659. Other districts that received a significant number of applications included Dakshina Kannada (10,496), Tumakuru (9,650) and Shivamogga (8,755).
The CEO’s office also said that 43,82,824 notices had been generated and delivered, and hearings had been completed in all cases across the state.
The notices were issued to electors whose names fell under the ‘no mapping’ and ‘anomalies’ categories during the revision exercise, officials said.
According to data shared by the CEO’s office, it received 10,42,863 Form-6 applications, 4,840 Form-6A applications, 2,28,917 Form-7 applications and 13,10,841 Form-8 applications between June 16 and October 22. The total number of applications received across these categories stood at 25,87,461.
Form-8 is used to apply for a change of residence or correction of entries in the existing electoral roll.
“Enrolment of names and correction of entries are continuous processes,” the CEO’s office said.
Applicants can submit Form-6, Form-6A, Form-7 or Form-8, as applicable, to the concerned Electoral Registration Officers online through the ECINET (Election Commission Internet) app or the voters.eci.gov.in portal. Applications can also be submitted offline at the offices of Booth Level Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers or Electoral Registration Officers, it added.
