Bhatkal: Sriram Sene Uttar Kannada district unit chief Jayant Naik allegedly started a quarrel with two youngsters after alleging that they were indulging in eve teasing. However, when the boys stated they were innocent and the girls in questions rejected the allegations of harassment, a fight broke out. Later on, Jayant Naik reportedly admitted himself in a hospital saying that he was injured in the fight with the youth. The incident took place in Bastimakki area in Murdeshwar of Bhatkal taluk on Thursday.
Acting on the tip-off, Bhatkal CPI Ganesh along with the team rushed to the spot and conducted the investigation.
According to sources, Jayant Naik alleged that two youth standing near a shop in Bastimakki were passing comments on the girls of another community. The youth denied the allegations and asked to corroborate the allegations with the girls. When asked, the girls responded that the youth were not involved in any improper behavior. However, the girls went off the spot with their brother, who arrived asking about the incident and took them with him.
Later, a war of words started between Jayant Naik and the youth, which escalated quickly and turned into hand to hand fight. It is said that Jayant Naik went to hospital and got admitted blaming youth that they have beaten him. A photo of Jayant Naik with message also circulated in the social media which created panic among the people.
Reacting to the incident , CPI Ganesh said that no case about the incident has been filed yet by anybody. However, necessary investigation will be carried.
Looking into the incident, locals felt that few miscreants are trying to destroy the peaceful atmosphere. Locals demanded the local authority to look into the matter and not allow anyone to take the law in their hands and destroy the peace of the town.
