Ankola: A restaurant, located opposite to KSRTC bus stand in Ankola accidentally caught fire destroying materials worth Rs 1.6 lakh on Monday evening.

It is said that the mishap took place due to gas leakage from the cylinder. As soon as the fire raised up , the hotel staff and other local people tried to douse the fire.

The fire did not come under control even after the hotel owner used the fire extinguisher.

The fire fighters rushed to the spot as soon as they received information and controlled the further damage. The utensils of the hotel, electric appliances, pipelines and other materials worth Rs 1.6 lakh was damaged.
