Bhatkal: Machines and equipment worth lakhs were gutted when a bakery at Hanuman Nagar in Bhatkal caught fire on Thursday afternoon.

The bakery named Satyasai Food Products owned by industrialist Govind Naik was gutted. The bakery caught fire accidentally when the workers were working there. The workers tried to douse the fire using gunny bags but could not. Two traditional ovens (Bhatti), oil boxes, utensils, two CCTV cameras, prepared snacks and electronic items were lost to the fire.

The firemen rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and brought the fire under control.
