Haliyal: Under the Union government’s Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, free LPG cylinders were distributed among beneficiaries here in Haliyal recently.

Speaking after distributing the cylinders,  Union Minister for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Anantkumar Hegde, said that the beneficiaries of this scheme must make proper use of these gas cylinders and restrain from misusing it for commercial purpose.

He noted this at a programme organised to distribute free LPG cylinders at Kalaginakoppa village in Haliyal taluk on Wednesday.

The Union minister said that LPG cylinders and gas stoves will be distributed to nearly 330 beneficiaries 
in the village. The distributors will visit the homes of every beneficiary and hand over the cylinders only after confirming that
the beneficiaries have followed the mandatory rules, he added.

He informed that the Union government was implementing Ayushman Bharat, a health insurance scheme at the earliest.

Under this, health cards will be given to each member of the family. 

He said that the Centre had directed the State government to set up procurement centres in the State to ensure support prices for the crops and facilitate farmers.

Indane Gas distributor Chandrakanth Angadi also spoke on the occasion.

Former MLA Sunil Hegde and others were present at the programme.
