Pro-Kannada organization urge to give priority to Kannada programmes in Karavali Utsav

Karwar: Members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KaRaVe) submitted a memorandum to Additional Deputy Commissioner Suresh Itnal in the City on Wednesday, demanding to organise and give priority to Kannada  related programmes and permit the local artistes to exhibit local art forms, during the celebration of Karavali Utsav. 

Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike District Unit President Bhaskar Patagar said, the district is in the border of State. And the Karavali Utsav, which will be organised every year in December, to strengthen Kannada in this region, should give priority to Kannada programmes.

The local artistes should be given permission to present suggi kunita, yakshagana, dramas, dollu kunita and other folk art based cultural events, they said and added that honorarium should be provided to the local artistes, who present the local arts. Apart from this, the Karavali Utsav should be a platform for discussion of various problems being faced by the people of the district and should provide them solutions, they demanded.

KaRaVe leaders Timmappa Naik, Basavaraj bendigeri, Deepak Naik, Sunil Naik, Arun Bajantri and others were present on the occasion.
