Golden Jubilee Celebrations Commence at Bhatkal Anand Ashram Convent School

Bhatkal: The Golden Jubilee celebrations of Anand Ashram Convent English Medium Higher Primary School in Bhatkal commenced with a grand inauguration ceremony. V. Rev. Sr. Milly Fernandez, Superior General & President of the Ursuline Franciscan Educational Society Mangalore, presided over the function and illuminated the Golden Jubilee lamp to mark the momentous occasion.

Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mundali, Bhatkal, Rev. Fr. Premkumar D'Souza, invoked divine blessings by chanting hymns of praise.

Karnataka Fisheries, Ports and Inland Water Transport Minister and Uttara Kannada District In-charge Minister Mankal Vaidya graced the event as the chief guest. He honored the school's Kabaddi team, selected at the state level, and unveiled the Golden Jubilee Commemorative Issue.

In his address, Minister Vaidya lauded the Ursuline Franciscan Institute of Mangalore's contributions to education, not just in Bhatkal but across India and abroad, with 125 high-quality academic institutions. He emphasized the transformative power of education, stating that imparting quality education to children empowers them to become valuable assets to society. Education, he asserted, is his top priority, and he is committed to ensuring that no child is deprived of educational opportunities. He recognized the progress made in expanding access to education, even for children from underprivileged backgrounds. He also extended his support and cooperation in addressing any challenges faced by the school.

Applauding the school's legacy, Minister Vaidya acknowledged the school's dedication to providing quality education since its inception and commended the commendable discipline and tradition of preparing students. He expressed pride in the school's alumni, who have made significant contributions worldwide.

Dr. Shashi Rashmi Acharya, an alumna of the school and Associate Dean and Professor at Manipal Dental College, shared her experiences and expressed gratitude for the strong foundation she received at Anand Ashram Convent School, which proved invaluable for her further education. She proudly identified as an Anand Ashram Convent student.

Block Education Officer (BEO) V.D. Moger and journalist Radhakrishna Bhatt also addressed the gathering, offering their insights and felicitations.

The stage graced the presence of Ursuline Franciscan Secretary Rev. Sister Filomena Noronha, Provincial Superior Rev. Sister Clara Menezes, Deputy Secretary Rev. Sister Juliana Pais, Guardian, Teacher Committee Vice President Nagaraj E.H., KTFF Director and Alumnus Tanveer Kasargod.

In a token of appreciation, Minister Mankal Vaidya was honored by Sister Milly Fernandez on behalf of the Ursuline Franciscan organization. Reciprocating the gesture, Sister Millie Fernandez was also honored by the organization.

Lavina D'Souza, the current Headmistress of Anand Ashram Convent Higher Primary School, and teachers with over 15 years of service, including teaching and non-teaching staff, were also recognized for their dedicated contributions.

The ceremony commenced with a vibrant welcome dance performed by the students of Anand Ashram Convent School. Rev. Sister Lavina Jyoti D'Souza introduced the activities of the convent, while Rev. Sister Lucy D'Souza welcomed the guests. Sister Shanti D'Souza and Antini Miranda ably hosted the program, and Jescinta Pinto delivered the vote of thanks.
