Sirsi:  Two people, including the president of Guddapur Gram Panchayat, were killed on the spot when their two-wheeler and a truck collided headon on Sorab Road in Banavasi town on Sunday.

According to the Banavasi police, deceased are Mayur Gouda (45), president of Guddapur GP, and Mallesh Varad (60). Both of them were from Ajjarani village.

The speeding truck was heading to Sorab from Banavasi and the two-wheeler was on its way to Guddapur from Sorab Road. The driver of the truck fled the scene after the accident and hunt is on for him.

Hundreds of people gathered on the accident spot and demanded that the police arrest the truck driver immediately. They alleged that the negligence of the driver has caused the accident and death of two.
