Haliyal: Kanara District Central Cooperative Bank has conducted an awareness programme on cashless transaction propagate cash less transaction as an economic reform post demonetization.
Bank chairman and MLC S L Ghotnekar has called upon bank customers to go for cashless transactions.
Inaugurating a digital transaction awareness programme on the bank premises, he said Haliyal was the first place in Uttara Kannada district to hold such a programme and it going to be held in other places in due course of time.
Hailing the demonetization drive by the Prime Minister, he said there should have been plans to mitigate the hardships of common people. He said all the cooperative societies in the district will be supplied with swipe machines soon.
Bhaskar Hegde Kageri, vice chief of the bank, said change in every sphere was inevitable and it was up to us to adapt to such changes.
A slide show to demonstrate the concepts of digital banking was held on the occasion.
Bank MD S P Bandurgi, Civic chief of Haliyal Umesh Bolshetty, President of the Jijamata Mahila Sangh Mangala Kashilkar and Manager (Haliyal branch) Dharanendra Achari, Legal advisor of the bank Mahadevi Angadi, were all present among others.
