Bhatkal: Heavy rains threw normal life out of gear in Bhatkal taluk in Uttara Kannada district on Wednesday. Trees were uprooted at several places in the taluk due to heavy rains and strong winds. 

People underwent hardships to reach their destinations. Fortunately, no casualty was reported. Rainwater along with drain water flowed on the roads at various places, causing inconveniences to people. 

The Meteorological Department predicted that rains may lash the coastal region for two more days due to the impact of the cyclone Asani. 

The Taluk Administration has initiated precautionary measures.
