Karwar: BJP workers staged a protest in front the deputy commissioner's office in Karwar on 22nd September, Friday, alleging that Hindus were being displaced from Bhatkal town.
In a memorandum to the governor, the BJP leaders alleged that there was a conspiracy behind the death of Ramachandra Naik, who recently immolated himself opposing the eviction of shopkeepers from a complex belonging to the Bhatkal town municipality. BJP alleged that the state government is responsible for the death of Ramachandra Naik.
In the memorandum, protesters alleged that some people with hawala money in Bhatkal were attempting take control of the shopping complexes in the town. As part of this conspiracy, the Hindu traders were being evicted and new tenders were being called for. The government should investigate from where these hawala operators are getting money, the protesters demanded.
