Honnavar police crack two interstate bike thieves, arrests

Honnavar: The Honnavar police on Wednesday cracked two thieves who had stolen expensive bikes that were parked outside the house of a person named Suresh in Gandhi Nagar in the town.

It is gathered that the bikes were stolen on early April this year following a case was filed at a local police station. Acting on the information, police personnel carried the severe investigations into the matter and were successful in nabbing two persons involved in the scene, while one person is still absconding who is said as a prime accused in the case.

The arrested persons are identified as  John Michal Rodriguez of Siddapur and Niyaz Dastagir of Sirsi. They were produced before the court on Wednesday. It is suspected that these thieves are involved in statewide bike theft incidents according to the information gathered by the officials. However, the entire details can be traced out after the arrest of a Mustafa, who is absconding.

It is also said that Mustafa and John used to supply stolen bikes to a person named Niyaz Shaikh. They later shared the money among themselves after getting the bikes sold.

A team of police officials who carried the investigations included CPI Cheluvaraj, DySP Valentine Dsouza, Ramesh Lamani, Mahaveer S, Vinayak Naik, Ashok Naik, Inspector Santosh Kaikini, Savitri Naik, and others.
