Hyderabad: Bhatkal student shines with 2nd position at All India Qur’an Memorisation Competition

Bhatkal: A female student from Bhatkal delivered an outstanding performance at the second All India Qur’an Memorisation Competition held in Hyderabad, securing second place among 167 women and girl participants from 16 Indian states and 8 foreign countries.

The two-day national-level event was organised by Darul Qira’at al-Hasnain, Moghalpura, in affiliation with Darul Qira’at al-Basitiya, Old Malakpet, Hyderabad. This information was shared by Qari Molana Muhiuddin Suhail, a representative of the organisers.

According to him, the first position was secured by Husna Fatima (D/o Najmuddin) from Kollam, Kerala; the second position by Noora Kazia (D/o Mohammed Shuieb Kazia) from Bhatkal, Karnataka; and the third position by Ummatul Sa’diya (D/o Hasan Sharif) from Hyderabad. The top three winners were awarded ₹50,000, ₹25,000, and ₹15,000, respectively, along with a gold medal, certificate and trophy.

A total of 167 contestants participated in the competition, representing Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Karnataka, and several other states, besides participants from the UAE, Libya, Egypt, Qatar, Indonesia, Maldives, Kenya and Chad.

The competition consisted of four rounds.

After an online screening round, 60 contestants qualified for the elimination round. The semi-final and final rounds were conducted offline at the Ellen Banquet Hall, Hyderabad. A total of 22 students reached the semi-final stage, while seven made it to the final round.

The remaining four finalists were awarded ₹5,000 cash prizes and gold medals as encouragement. Contestants eliminated in the semi-finals received ₹1,000, along with silver medals and certificates.

The competition was presided over by Hazrat Qari Muhammad Ali Khan Sahib, founder, president and senior Qari of Darul Qira’at al-Basitiya. The event concluded with his valuable advice and prayers.
