Mangaluru: Alok Kumar, ADGP (law and order), told the commissioner of police N Shashi Kumar and superintendent of police Rishikesh Sonawane, “We have a beat system in force, but it suffered a setback during the Covid-19 pandemic. Now with the decline in Covid-19 cases, there is a need to enforce the beat system, and implement it effectively.he police should also hold janasamparka sabhe. Such meetings with the public helps in solving crimes and maintaining law and order. Emphasis should be given to people-friendly policing.” He was speaking after inspecting the parade by the police personnel at the CAR ground in Mangaluru on Friday.
On monitoring the social media contents, the ADGP said the social media monitoring cells should use modern technology, and the latest software, to be effective.
He also insisted that the personal grievances of police personnel should be addressed, and they should be given a weekly off.
“Since the assembly election is around the corner, police personnel will have to work under tremendous pressure. The parade by the police personnel has been effective, and it also creates an impression on the discipline and coordination of the police officers,” he said.
The ADGP also advised police personnel to take care of their health, and to not get addicted to alcohol.
