Kumta: An incident have reportedly taken place on 24th November, Thursday, around 7am in the morning, between a speedy Jeep and a lorry, which resulted in drivers of both the vehicles getting injured. The incident was reported near Mizzen NH66 which is around 7km from the town. 

As per the sources, both the injured were taken to Kumta Govt. Hospital for initial treatment. The injured lorry driver is said to be Vishwanath Gouda.

As per the information, the incident took place when a speedy Jeep was overtaking another vehicle when it hit the lorry approaching from opposite direction. Initially, both Jeep and lorry met with head-on collision and later the lorry after loosing control over the speed, went on to hit an electric pole present near by.

During the incident, Jeep was on way towards Karwar from Kumta, while lorry was approaching to Kumta from Ankola. Due to the impact of collision, the front portion of the Jeep was greatly damaged. 

In this regard, a case has been registered at Kumta police station and further investigations are on.
