Karnataka II PUC examinations: Girls outshine boys once again

Bengaluru: Karnataka recorded an overall pass percentage of 52.38 in the second Pre-University (PU) examinations. The results were announced on Thursday by Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait.

Mr. Sait said that the results of the 2017 examinations held in March and April have declined compared to last year's 57.20 per cent.

Like every year, girls have outperformed boys with 60.28% against 44.74%. The pass percentage of rural colleges is less than that of urban colleges (50.72% against 52.88% respectively).

According to information provided by the Department of Pre-University Education, the pass percentage for science combinations stands at 60.71 percent , while it was 60.09 for commerce and 35.05 percent for arts combinations. The pass percentage for students who wrote the examination in the English medium stands at 61.41 percent , while it is 40.68 for those who wrote it in Kannada medium.

Udupi district topped with 90.01 pass percentage, while the lowest was in Bidar with 42.05 pass percentage.

This year, as many as 2,457 students have secured a centum in business studies. The least centum was scored in psychology (3).

The II PU examination, held from March 9 to 27, was written by 6,79,061 students from across the State.

  • Dakshina Kannada 
  • Uttara Kannada
  • Kodagu 
  • Chikkamagaluru
