Karwar: The Karwar Traffic Police have fined bike riders who were creating sound pollution with the modified silencers fitted to their bikes.

The police seized 38 bikes and collected a total fine of Rs 45,000 from them.

PSI Vinayak Billava said that many youths in the city had modified the silencers of their bikes which gave rise to a loud and unpleasant sound. To check this, they kept an eye on such bikes for three days.

Most of the bikes seized are Royal Enfield, he said and added that the bikes were returned after the original silencers were fitted.
