Karwar: The general manager of BSNL G R Ravi has informed that BSNL is all set to provide free Wi-Fi service at 10 places in Uttara Kannada district.
Wi-Fi will be extended to Ravindranath Tagore beach, Karwar medical college, Green street, Bhatkal Engineering college hostel, Murdeshwar beach, Kanagod of Siddapur taluk, Om beach of Gokarna, Kudle beach, Sirsi APMC and Wood resorts in Ganeshgudi in Dandeli. Necessary equipments will be received in the month of September, he added.
A new scheme was started to attract the BSNL landline users from 15th August. The landline customers can make free calls on Sunday throughout the day and from 9pm to 7am from Monday to Saturday to any mobile or landline number. This scheme will be implemented for a monthly fees of Rs. 49 for the next 6 months and then will be converted to the regular plan.
He further informed that 3G tower installation at 226 places are in full swing. Many places are facing difficulties in repairs because of shortage of manpower, he added.
