Karwar: In an order issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Karwar H Prasanna, the special land Officer of Honnaver G N Basavaraj has been relieved from his duties, following negligence of duties.
The Highway Authority of India appoints an officer to take care of highway widening project which is being carried out for NH 66. He is given the task of inspecting and clearing the land required for NH and taking forward the work without any delay. G N Basavaraj, who had been appointed for the task showed no efforts to carry out the project efficiently even after repeated appeals. Fed-up with this, additional deputy commissioner has directed to relive Mr. Basavaraju from duties. He had been on the post for past three years.
Until this post id filed, Sirsi Assistant commissioner has been given additional responsibility of special land acquisition of national highway 66 between Karwar and Bhatkal. The responsibility of acquiring land was given to special land acquisition officer of Udupi. As both these districts came under his jurisdiction, land acquisition process was going at a snail pace.
Mr. Prasanna said Basavaraju had not inspected the land which had to be acquired and had not handed over the land to the National Highway Authority. There were complaints that he was not receiving any the phone call of any officer nor was available in the headquarters. He had come under the scanner of the government and hence has been relieved from duties, he added.
