KARWAR: A Nature Vandana programme was organised at Balamandir High School in Karwar in collaboration with the Environmental Movement Organisation and the Central Climate Change Department.

Inaugurating the programme, advocate G.S. Hegde said life was impossible without nature and stressed that protecting the environment and nature was the responsibility of everyone. He explained the importance of nature to the students and referred to the recent natural disasters in Kerala and Nepal to create awareness about the need for environmental protection.

He also highlighted the importance of environmental conservation through the slogan, “Eliminate plastic, plant trees and save water.”

Retired teacher G.M. Bhat administered an environmental protection pledge to the students.

Balamandir High School headmistress Anjali Mane welcomed the gathering. Teachers, students and non-teaching staff, including Sadananda P. Hegde, Sanjay N. Bhat, Naziruddin Syed, Bharathi Isaac and Manjula Naik, were present.
