Karwar: Sushma Govekar (32), a resident of Kodibag, who was admitted to a private hospital in Goa after she attempted suicide, succumbed on Monday morning. Following the death, a case of dowry harassment was registered against her husband Rajanna in the Town police station. Later, Rajanna was arrested.

Sushma, who was two months pregnant, had attempted suicide by hanging herself in her husband house in Kodibag on Saturday (August 27). Later, she was taken to a hospital in Goa but on Monday morning, she succumbed. The lady also has a two-year-old son.

Sushma of Kadwad has married Rajanna two-and-a-half years back. “Rajanna used to harass my younger sister Sushma for dowry. She ended her life depressed over this”, said Sushma’s elder sister Sujana in her complaint filed in town police station.

She demanded justice for her sister.
