Karwar: Karnataka State Safai Karamacharis Commissioner member Gokul Narayanaswamy expressed discontent about the conditions of community toilets being used by pourakarmikas at Pourakamika colony at Gandhi Nagar here.

The toilet is dirty, and its doors are broken. Pourakamikas can clean the city properly, if they are happy. Therefore the City Municipal Council (CMC) should arrange all facilities required for them,” he said, during his visit to the Pourakarmika Colony here on Monday. Residents of the colony expressed their grievances, including stagnation of sewage water.

Narayanaswamy noted that the commission is functioning as per the Supreme Court order, and the government is providing funds for the welfare of cleaning workers.

He interacted with Pourakarmikas, at CMC office. CMC Commissioner S Yogeshwar, Social Welfare Department Deputy Director Purushottam, and others were present.
