Mangalore : Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of police, Bhusan Gulabrao Borase has been transferred by the state government on 21st June Wednesday amid the clashes in Bantwal taluk as the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru city with immediate effect.
The present SP of Chikkabalapur Sudheer Kumar Reddy has been appointed as the new SP of Dakshina Kannada district.
Reddy is an IPS officer of 2010 batch and a B.tech graduate from Pondicherry Engineering College. He is a native of Narsarao in Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the sources, six other IPS officers have been transferred by the government including Borase.
The cause for the transfer is widely seen as the increasing tension in Bantwal taluk in general as well as the Kalladka in particular. It culminated with the murder of the SDPI activist on Wednesday.
The district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai, who represents the Bantwal taluk Assembly had censured Borase for his alleged failure to transfer policemen in his unit with alleged RSS links.
A video of their conversation has gone viral and this has kicked up a storm where Rai gave directions to Borase to book his bete noire and local RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat under Section 307 of IPC.
Sudheer Kumar took charge as SP on Wednesday.
