Karwar: The CMC in Karwar has decided to clear all the 139 shops located in the Gandhi Market in the town, and construct a new commercial complex in their place. A decision to this effect was taken during the CMC members, shopkeepers, and officials meeting held here.

Presiding over the meeting, CMC President Nitin Pikale said, the shopping complex at Gandhi market is 70 years old. This complex has turned weak and if it collapses, it will lead to a major disaster. Therefore, the CMC has decided to demolish the existing weak complex, and construct a hi-tech commercial complex. The new complex will have over 250 shops and would be rented to existing shop-owners, he said..
