Karwar: Uttara Kananda Superintendent of Police C Vamshikrishna has appealed to the general public to co-operate with the police to ensure peaceful Ganesha festival celebrations in the district.

The people in the Uttara Kannada district would be celebrating the Ganesha festival from September 5 to 15 and elaborate security arrangements have been made across the district to maintain law and order situation.

The Ganesha Mandals and organizations along with the general public should co-operate for the peaceful celebrations. The organisations which install huge Ganesha idols have been asked to appoint volunteers to ease the crowd during celebrations, he said.

If the Ganesha utsav Samithi volunteers provided the names, address and photographs, the police would issue identity cards to them. Even without the identity cards too the persons can works as volunteers, he said.

Armed police force, KSRP and Home Guards would be working in the district.
