Dubai: A 32-year-old Malayali dentist and mother of two, Dr Afeena Raheem, died after suddenly collapsing at her home in Sharjah’s Al Qasimia area on Monday morning. Gulf News and Malayalam media reports said Afeena was found unconscious in the kitchen and was rushed to a private hospital, but doctors could not save her. The exact cause of her sudden death has not yet been established.

Afeena was a native of Pookkulam in Wandoor, Malappuram district, Kerala. She was the daughter of Abdurahiman and Sulaikha and was married to Yasir of Alanallur. She was 32 years old and had two young children.
Afeena was a qualified dentist but had taken a career break to look after her children. Her husband Yasir works as a teacher and was at work when the incident occurred.

According to the family, Yasir’s sister Ramsheena was at home when the incident happened. After sending her son to school, she had gone back to sleep. She later woke up after hearing the younger child crying and went to check on the situation. She found Afeena collapsed in the kitchen.

Ramsheena immediately attempted CPR and called for an ambulance. Afeena was taken to a private hospital, but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.

Her family said that she had appeared to be in good health and had no known serious medical condition. The circumstances surrounding her sudden collapse remain unclear, and the exact cause of death has not been confirmed.
The family subsequently began completing the formalities required to repatriate her remains to Kerala. The latest information indicates that her body was scheduled to be brought to Kerala on Wednesday night after the necessary procedures in the UAE were completed.

Afeena’s death has also revived a painful tragedy for her family. Her brother had died in a road accident in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, around two years ago. The family had already been coping with that loss when Afeena died suddenly in Sharjah.

Her remains are being taken to her native place in Kerala, where the final rites are expected to be held after the completion of the repatriation process.
